Complete listing of Cruises by Date: Lotus Track Day - May 18th, 2009 - A fun filled, race day with all sorts of excitement... Windows that won't go down, wheels coming loose, lotus' turning into fireballs, and most surprizing of all Andrew did not Thrash his Lotus. This was also the first year that I had a camera in the car, true the angle could be better, but it is a start. CruiseWest - November 2nd, 2008 - After a long strange week of work with lay-offs and unknown deadlines for homework, I needed to just go for a drive. I burned a full tank of gas, cheap gas, and traveled a little over 200 miles. It felt good, a good release that was long over due. I was also trying to stretch ZED out before he goes into storage for the winter. I was pleased, I did manage to best my personal land speed record today by 12.6 MPH. ZED was still pulling away, I unfortunately ran out of road. Maybe next time... Vacation 2008 @ Smithsonian Castle tour - August 31st, 2008 - This was an entertaining and fun day. I had the pleasure of watching my mother give a tour of the Smithsonian Castle. If you are ever in DC, and are a member of the Smithsonian, I would highly recommend taking this tour. And if you see this pretty lady as your tour guide, tell her I sent you ;-) Vacation 2008 @ Diggers Dungeon NC - August 28th, 2008 - I was running trying to make good time to meet up with my mother in Virginia, in hopes to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway again. But I was side tracked by something you do not see everyday. I had to stop and pay homage to a mythical icon from my childhood... Grave Digger! Vacation 2008 @ Kitty Hawk NC - August 27th, 2008 - As today was my complete accidental vacation. I spent it exploring the Outer Banks, and I hate to say it I think I have done OBX. I guess it is a nice place to retire, but I would need somewhere with long winding roads that go nowhere. Enjoy the pictures. Vacation 2008 @ Kill Devil Hills NC - August 26th, 2008 - Today, was a long day of driving so I really just crashed as soon as I got to the hotel. Oh, and some of you know that I mis-calculated. It was my original intention to arrive here today, instead of yesterday. Oops! Oh well, if there was any place I could spend a more rewarding day, I think this would be it. I sat this morning for more than an hour just watching the sea roll in. So much ran through my mind, it is hard to believe I was only out there for 73 mintues. I thought that it had been 2 years since I had seen the ocean. Probably 10 years since I had been in the ocean in the northern hemisphere, and sadly 2 decades since I had been to the Atlantic. But I realised that I had never really appreciated the sea until today. I grew up believing that the sea was the sea, just water, sand, some salt, and fishes. Not so! The Atlantic is much different than the Pacific. It conjured memories of playing at the beach as a child. My father turning my sister into a mermaid at the beach. Watching the sinking of a navel vessle to create a new artificial reef. Deep Sea fishing with my family while we were in Key West. So many things that I thought I had forgotten, retreived through the smell of the sea, the touch of the sand, and the rolling, soothing sound of the sea. It has been too long... Vacation 2008 @ Chapel Hill NC - August 25th, 2008 - This has been a great visit. I was introduced Josh to the awesome power of ZED's LS1 V8. Which performed beyond a shadow of a doubt, even at the 110 mph+ we hit on the back roads of south central North Carolina. It is going to be fun, and oh so dangerous if I do decide to move here. We saw land for sale in increments no smaller than 75 acres, modular homes for sale in the $60,000 range, and from the looks of the names of the lanes here; Snickerdoodle, Sewing, Rogers, and Tim Lane. I think the property owners get to choose the name of the lane which they live on... I have had a great time! Josh & Steph have been awesome hosts, and they are remarkably well settled for a couple who moved in only a few weeks ago. We have watched some Californication, as well as Empire Records. We have also enjoyed the college campus of UNC, and the many very beautiful southern coed's... Did I mention that I might have fun if I moved here?! Besides the plentiful women, the roads are all beautifully paved, and you are well warned in advance if a road is to become gravel. There are lots of curves, lots of fun straights, and lots of beautiful country. Vacation 2008 @ LaGrange GA - August 23rd, 2008 - This has been a great visit with dear friends. Not too many pictures as I have been playing human jungle-gym to my friend's kids and teaching them how to build websites of their very own. • Victoria's Site: Midnight Horses Wander Free • Jamie's Site: Knight's Kingdom Tim and I have also made good progress on the overhead console for ZED. It will not be installed, but it will be ready to be wired and installation. All of which is Very FUN, and certainly educational. After a night of experimenting with absenthe, I will admit to a small hang over, but Melanie never fully recovered unfortunately. We did manage to run a few errands, and go out and play with the Chickens. As for Florida... Sadly, it had to be postponed due to the heavy rain fall deposited by Tropical Storm Fay. Sorry Grandma, Sorry Uncle Bill, but I will try to make it down once again, and I promise to not be driving such a low slung vehicle. Instead I spent a few extra days in LaGrange, and I am now headed to see Josh and Steph in North Carolina. Vacation 2008 @ LaGrange GA - August 20th, 2008 - This has been a great visit with dear friends. Not too many pictures as I have been playing human jungle-gym to my friend's kids and teaching them how to build websites of their very own. Tim and I have also made good progress on the overhead console for ZED. It will not be installed, but it will be ready to be wired and installation. All of which is Very FUN. Unfortunately, Melanie has been under the weather, but she is feeling better today. I have been watching the weather, and the drive down into Florida, should be interesting. Sounds like I will be driving in some heavy rain. As expected I will let you know hopw it went when I experience it for myself. Vacation 2008 @ US 129 TN NC GA - August 17th, 2008 - As many of you know I had been looking forward to running the Dragon again, and this time I wanted to record it. I had FUN, and even took Tim's advice I ran the Dragon at Dawn, and even a little bit before that. I left the hotel at 3:45?! I know, I am on vacation why start so early? I can not tell you, but I do know that it was quite exhilerating to run the dragon and feel like I had reserved it for me and me alone. There were no bikes, no cops, no LEOs, and only 2 passenger vehicles, and 1 semi. I am having some trouble with YouTube, when I fix the problem, I will attempt to repost these videos Vacation 2008 @ Knoxville TN - August 16th, 2008 - Can I just say how wonderful it feels to finally be on VACATION! As planned this was the longest leg of the trip, a total of 604+ miles and as Google planned it only 9 hours and 37 minutes. Let's just say that I left at 4am CST, and arrived in Knoxville a little after 4pm EST. It is making me rethink a couple of my day trips along the coast. But I did stop for a sit down lunch, 2 refuelings, and a side trip to the historical Boone Tavern Motel. But right now I am going to lather up with some aloe, chill with the idiot box, and debate where to go for dinner while I get batteries a charging for the big day with the dragon tomorrow. Jimmy Buffett @ Alpine Valley - July 19th, 2008 - Wastin' Away Again in Margaritaville... That is how the song goes, and that is certainly what we did. It was a great Tailgate, and certainly his best concert in the last few years. We got lucky with the weather, it only rained while we were asleep. True, that meant we occasional woke up with our bedding soaked, but that is a minor sacrafice for a ParrotHead! White Pines State Park - July 12th, 2008 - After a long Saturday of Failed Soldering projects, I needed an escape. And with blue skys and clear roads, I headed out to White Pines State Park for a little fording action. But after a 2 hour drive I was sorry to learn that the fords were closed due to high water... Semi comical if you think about it. Oh well, better safe than sorry. I headed out instead to do what I do best. Get Lost. I found some interesting locations to take some pictures, and experimented some more with the video camera. A new mounting locations, and a new mounting possition, Backwards. West Bound Day Cruise - July 5th, 2008 - The day was absolutely gorgeous, the weather and temperature were perferct. I decided to jump in the Camaro, and hit the road. Before I left I checked the weather, and tried to look for any good driving roads, but did not find anything 'Special'. So I decided to just head West, and got as far as Grotiot, WI. As it was a small town, I did not stay in it for long, I saw that Dubuque was about 45 miles further west, and as I had no desire to visit, I decided it was best to start heading south and east to make it home and have enough time to catch a movie or something. It was a good cruise, much over due. Wisconsin Day Cruise - June 14th, 2008 - just went for a cruise and wound up here for some pictures, and to see how the Camaro Does on loose gravel. But it was a beautiful day. Tail of the Dragon - May 23rd, 2008 - This was a fun jaunt. Mom and I met up just north of the Dragon, the evening before and cruised the dragon and deals gap for most of the day. Unfortunatly Mom had troubles on the return trip, when her Transmission went caput, but she was able to Flat Bed Her Car back home that day. Lotus Track Day - May 19th, 2008 - This was my first Auto-Cross, track day event. I had fun. I learned A Lot, I went really, really fast. And successfully fried my brakes, that they all had to have new pads installed and all 4 rotors needed to be respun, especially before heading down to Georgia and the Dragon. |
